On October 12th, Brookline's Community Development Division officially started work on our 2021 Housing Production Plan. The primary objective of the Housing Production Plan is to encourage and incentivize further affordable and market-rate housing production and to retain and improve the existing affordable housing stock. This work will be led by Joe Viola, Assistant Director for Community Development, Senior Housing Planner Virginia Bullock, and Housing Planner David Guzman. Our consultant team includes Barrett Planning Group, Community Circle, Dodson & Flinker, and Language Connections. The first phase of work is creating a community engagement plan and gathering background information, both of which include targeted community interviews.
We will be holding public forums beginning January 2022 and anticipate wrapping up work by the summer of 2022. As we get underway, information and public engagement opportunities will continue to be added on the Housing Production Plan webpage and communicated through a variety of ways, including this Planning Blog that you have subscribed to.
I am thrilled that my first day in my new role as Director of Planning & Community Development included being a part of this team's work.
