- Lost Dog Information
Your dog is lost, now what do you do?
Contact the Brookline Police Animal Control Officer at 617-730-2222. If she or he is not available, be sure to leave your name, a description of your dog, and your contact information with the call taker. Ask that this information be logged in, in case someone sees your dog and calls the police.
Contact local animal shelters! Local shelters include:
Again, be sure to leave your name, a description of your dog, and your contact information. Be sure to call or visit frequently.
Post a free, widely distributed notice in the Pets and Lost and Found sections of Craigslist.
Print a few hundred Lost Dog Flyers on bright, neon paper. Assemble friends and family to post them everywhere within at least a 1 to 2-mile radius of where your dog went missing.
You must get permission before posting signs. You cannot post them on trees, and it is important to make a firm commitment to take them down as soon as your dog is found.
If bad weather is expected, insert them in clear plastic sleeve protectors available at office supply stores, with the opening facing down. Be sure that the contact number appearing on the flyer can be monitored by someone 24 / 7.
