A Conversation on Race with Dr. Plummer - July 2019

Reflections on Race - Brookline Then and Now

MLK Day 2019

On Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, Brookline's residents joined together to celebrate the life and values of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This year's program featured Brookline: Facing Civil Rights, a documentary film conceptualized by the MLK Jr. Celebration Committee and Produced by R. Harvey Bravman. The documentary highlights recollections of Civil Rights in the 50s, 60s and 70s by six Brookline residents. After the film, there was discussion with Boston Globe Spotlight Editor, Patricia Wen. In 2018, Patricia oversaw a seven-part series on race issues in Boston. The program also featured poet/performer Regie Gibson, Brookline Poet Laureate Zvi Sesling, and Brookline High School Acapella Group, The Testastatones.

We would like to thank all those who participated in any of the Brookline Day of Service Projects -- a Brookline Food Pantry food drive, More Than Words Cafe book drive and Insp:Expo.

If you attended the event, please take a moment to complete an Evaluation! Thank you!
