Demolition of Washington Street Pedestrian Bridge
This notice is to inform you of the upcoming work contracted to be done on Washington Street. The Town of Brookline has recently awarded a construction contract to North American Site Development (NASDI, LLC.) of Woburn, Ma. This work includes the demolition of the existing pedestrian overpass bridge located on Washington Street.
We are writing to inform you that a one time-full weekend, 24 hour road closure is scheduled to start on Friday October 9th, 2015 at 9:00 PM and will finish on Monday October 12, 2015 at 7:00 AM . Due to the nature of this type of construction, you may experience some temporary inconveniences such as traffic delays, detours, and noise. Washington Street (along Route 9), Juniper Street, MBTA Bus Stops, and on street parking will not be accessible; however the Town of Brookline Engineering Division and Contractor will try to keep all inconveniences to a minimum.
Vehicle detours utilizing High Street for eastbound traffic and Brookline Avenue for westbound traffic will be implemented around the construction site, by NASDI, in order to complete the demolition activities. MBTA bus stops for the 60, 65 and 66 buses will be relocated to the MBTA Station Street trolley station. Pedestrians will be re-routed from Washington Street to Pearl Street and Station Street Written directions for navigating around the construction site and a detailed map indicating re-routing of all vehicles, pedestrians and MBTA buses will be posted on this page as soon as available, Boston and Massachusetts State police details will be on hand, as necessary to handle traffic.
